Position Overview: Patient Care Aide

The Patient Care Aide plays a crucial role in delivering essential support to patients and healthcare teams. This position involves a variety of responsibilities aimed at ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate patient transport and escort services within the facility and to other departments as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of examination rooms and other designated areas, ensuring all necessary supplies are readily available.
  • Sterilize and uphold the functionality of medical instruments and equipment as per established protocols.
  • Execute general service tasks, including the delivery of documents, messages, and supplies, as well as answering phone calls and managing photocopying duties.
  • Assist patients with changing attire as required.
  • Communicate patient concerns and information to the appropriate healthcare professionals.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of Grade 10 education.
  • Graduation from an accredited Nursing Assistant Program or a comparable combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Registration with the relevant health care aide registry.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with patients and team members.
  • Physical capability to perform the duties associated with this role.
  • Proficiency in typing and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with operating related medical equipment.
  • Commitment to fostering reconciliation and understanding of Indigenous cultural safety and anti-racism principles.
