Job Title: Electrician

Aecon Construction Solutions Inc. is seeking a skilled Electrician to join our team. As an Electrician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment on various construction projects across Alberta.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install and terminate electrical cables and equipment
  • Locate and install electrical panels, sensors, and control components
  • Fabricate control panels and wiring check-out
  • Layout and plan electrical installations, including circuit design and material quantification
  • Ensure electrical installations meet applicable regulations and trade practices
  • Install, alter, repair, and maintain electrical equipment for safe and efficient operation
  • Pull wire through conduits and cables through tray systems
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, circuit diagrams, and code specifications
  • Splice, join, and connect wire to fixtures and components
  • Install brackets and hangers to support electrical equipment
  • Troubleshoot and isolate faults in electrical and electronic systems
  • Install, replace, and repair lighting fixtures and electrical control and distribution equipment
Requirements:
  • Certified Journeyperson Ticket or Indentured in Apprenticeship Program
  • 2-3 years' experience in high voltage, lockout tagout, and circuit isolation
  • 2-3 years' experience in industrial (Oil and Gas) or Maintenance projects
  • 2-3 years' experience reading and interpreting electronic schematics, drawings, and aligning to provincial standards
  • 2-3 years' experience working with high voltage power equipment
  • 2-3 years' experience commissioning and decommissioning electrical systems
  • Mechanical ability, strength, and manual dexterity
  • Ability to work at various heights and in all weather conditions
  • Ability to solve math problems quickly and accurately
  • Ability to get along well with others on a work team
  • Strong understanding of safety procedures and policies on an industrial job site
  • Proficient communication and reading skills
  • Ability to do very precise work and distinguish colors for color-coded wiring
Compensation and Benefits:
  • $50.00 hourly rate
  • Shift rotation to change per project requirements
  • 5 days on, 2 days off
  • 10 days on, 4 days off
  • 14 days on, 7 days off
  • 21 days on, 7 days off
  • 6 days on, 1 day off
  • 10 hours per day – hours flexible to change
  • Overtime paid at 1.5 times the employee straight time hourly rate after 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week
  • Overtime paid when an employee works on any regularly scheduled day off
  • All compensation and benefits in accordance with the Collective Agreement
  • 6% vacation and 4% statutory holiday pay provided in accordance with the Collective Agreement
Working Conditions and Environment:
  • Primary work location at site in Edmonton/Sherwood Park/Fort Saskatchewan (and surrounding areas), Alberta, with work and travel required throughout Alberta
  • Repetitive movement
  • Able to perform in a fast-paced environment
  • Continuously changing work tasks
  • Ability to work a significant amount of hours throughout the day
  • Ability to lift and work with materials weighing up to 25kg
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions and environments
