Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Snow Cat Operator (Groomer) to join our team at Big White Ski Resort. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for building and maintaining our Alpine slopes, Nordic trails, and terrain park.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate Grooming Equipment: Safely and efficiently operate snow grooming equipment to maintain and rebuild ski runs, Nordic trails, and terrain park.
  • Maintain Lift Marshaling Areas: Build and maintain lift marshaling areas to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Communicate Effectively: Communicate effectively with all departments regarding operations and ensure that all team members are aware of their responsibilities.
  • Work Cooperatively: Work cooperatively as a member of the grooming team to ensure safe work practices are adhered to at all times.
  • Complete Log Sheets: Complete log sheets to record daily activities and ensure accurate records.
  • Comply with Policies: Comply with all department and company policies, and procedures.
  • Refuel and Maintain Equipment: Refuel and perform routine maintenance on machines to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Perform Other Tasks: Perform other tasks as assigned by management to ensure the smooth operation of the resort.
Requirements
  • Minimum Two Years Experience: Minimum two years experience operating a grooming machine in a winter alpine environment.
  • Self-Motivated: Self-motivated and able to work well with minimum supervision.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform routine maintenance on equipment.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Excellent communication and organizational skills to work effectively with team members and management.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail to ensure accurate records and safe operations.
  • Team Player: Ability to work well within a diverse team environment and be a team player.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to sit for the duration of the shift, lift and carry 20kg, kneel, bend, stoop, squat, and stretch to fulfill duties.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced winter alpine environment, with exposure to extreme cold temperatures, snow, and wind. The candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of physical fitness and endurance.

Compensation

The successful candidate will be offered a competitive hourly rate of $21.00-$32.00, depending on experience.
