A Registered Echocardiography Sonographer plays a crucial role in conducting comprehensive and precise ultrasound assessments of the heart and its associated structures for both inpatients and outpatients, adhering to the professional standards set forth by the American Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers and the Canadian Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers. This position also involves assisting with specialized procedures such as transesophageal echocardiograms, stress echocardiograms, pericardiocentesis, and contrast studies.

Educational Requirements:


• Completion of an accredited Echo Sonographer Program, including a clinical component - essential

• Successful passing of the echocardiography and cardiac ultrasound physics examinations administered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers - essential

• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification - essential

• Active membership in good standing with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and the Canadian Association of Registered Diagnostic Ultrasound Professionals

Professional Experience:


• 1-3 years of experience as a Registered Echocardiography Technologist

Additional Requirements:

Candidates must possess at least a Grade 12 education or equivalent and demonstrate a track record of strong job performance and attendance.

As a Regional Health Centre, we operate 24/7 to provide essential patient care. Depending on the specific program, candidates may be expected to work weekdays, weekends, and all shifts, including days, evenings, and nights.
