Interior Designer Opportunity at Ware Malcomb

We are seeking a skilled Interior Designer to collaborate with our team in Vaughan, ON. As an Interior Designer at Ware Malcomb, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality design solutions from conceptualization to completion.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients to understand their project goals and objectives.
  • Lead projects from inception to completion, ensuring design quality and intent are maintained throughout.
  • Conduct programming efforts, including space planning, layout, and utilization of furnishings and equipment, lighting, and color coordination.
  • Prepare and present design concepts to clients, ensuring effective communication of design intent.
  • Specify and select furniture, lighting, flooring, wall covering, and artwork, estimating material requirements and preliminary costs.
  • Solicit bids and assist Project Managers and clients in subcontracting fabrication, installation, and arrangement of materials, finishes, and furnishings.
  • Support the Construction Administration phase, responding to RFI's, CO's, and reviewing shop drawings.
  • Stay up-to-date with building regulations and safety codes, ensuring compliance in all projects.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and direct junior staff in documenting design correctly.
  • Mentor and direct less experienced staff, delivering performance evaluations as needed.
  • Contribute to office activities and participate in design community organizations.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in Interior Architecture & Design, preferably in Retail Design.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design or Architecture.
  • Registered Interior Designer (ARIDO) and NCIDQ Certified, strongly preferred.
  • Strong conceptual design skills and experience preparing CD working drawings, permits, and coordinating MEP and Structural disciplines.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and preferred Revit skills.
