Job Summary:The successful candidate will provide support to students with special needs in a classroom setting. This is a casual employment opportunity, and the ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of special education principles and practices.
Responsibilities:- Support students with special needs in a classroom setting
- Assist with lesson planning and implementation
- Provide one-on-one support to students as needed
- Communicate effectively with teachers and other support staff
- Two or three year diploma from a recognized Community College in an area related to Special Education or a Bachelor of Arts degree
- Ability to work with children, including those with a wide variety of special needs
- Support the Gospel values and philosophy of Inclusion
- Three to six months previous related experience and/or job placement
- UMAB and/or CPI and/or NVCI qualification
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) training
- Assistive Technology Software
- Augmentative Communication
- Safe Back Care or Lifting Ambulation
Applicants must submit a resume, cover letter, and three professional references. A Criminal Reference Check within the past six months is also required.
