Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled Intermediate Analyst in Reinsurance to undertake essential accounting tasks and support reporting activities, including the preparation and submission of financial documents to both internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Evaluate and establish Reinsurance accounting procedures for new and updated GCS opportunities in collaboration with senior management.
  2. Execute accounting journal entries to reflect the financial implications of GCS reinsurance contracts.
  3. Assist in the creation of financial statements and regulatory documentation, ensuring timely submissions to regulatory bodies.
  4. Reconcile accounts related to receivables and payables with reinsurers/cedants, including outstanding losses and premium reserves. Aid in the development of commutation worksheets.
  5. Analyze and process invoices, conduct trend analysis on proportional treaties, and manage payments to brokers/cedants for claims. Handle cash processing within the system and generate necessary accounting reports for month-end closure and projects.
  6. Engage in cross-training initiatives with fellow analysts within the Reinsurance team.
  7. Participate in assigned reinsurance projects and provide support during the absence of team members.

Qualifications:

  1. A degree in business or a diploma in accounting, with a professional accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA, or equivalent) either completed or nearing completion.
  2. 1 to 3 years of accounting experience and 3 to 5 years in reinsurance accounting, with a solid understanding of accounting processes and financial statement preparation.
  3. Strong interpersonal skills to foster effective teamwork and collaboration.
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, capable of engaging with both internal and external customers.
  5. Proficient in managing relationships with brokers, cedants, reinsurers, and auditors.
  6. Exceptional analytical skills for resolving discrepancies and accurately preparing financial reports.
  7. Detail-oriented with a methodical approach to tasks.
  8. Strong time management skills, ensuring timely completion of responsibilities and effective organization of work assignments.
  9. Active participation in knowledge sharing and cross-training to enhance operational efficiency.
  10. Ability to pursue collection of outstanding reinsurance receivables.
  11. Familiarity with interpreting reinsurance agreements and applying their terms effectively.
  12. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; familiarity with PBCS, Oracle Fusion, Blackline, and MINDs is advantageous.
