Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Waste Management Planner to join our team in the Greater Toronto Area. As a Waste Management Planner, you will play a key role in developing and implementing waste management policies and strategies that promote sustainability and reduce waste.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and analysis to inform waste management policy and strategy development
  • Lead proposal writing and development of project plans and reports
  • Assist project teams with approval and permit applications
  • Compile and draft reports and documents for summary and presentation
  • Coordinate public consultation and engagement activities
  • Develop and present technical reports and presentations
  • Review and analyze sub-consultant reports and cross-reference to policy and legislation guidelines
  • Attend meetings and prepare meeting minutes and reports
  • Manage solid waste projects related to waste management policy, organics processing, planning and approvals, waste diversion programs, zero waste and single-use item reduction strategies, material flow studies, feasibility analysis, and circular economy
  • Contribute to the development of solid waste master plans and strategies
  • Develop and participate in public consultation programs and prepare public-facing content

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in environmental planning, environmental policy, waste management planning, environmental science, or a related discipline
  • 5-7 years of project experience in the waste management industry
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Fluency with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint)
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with Provincial and Federal Policy and Legislation
  • Experience working with First Nations (specifically in the waste sector) would be an asset
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle
  • Ability to manage consulting assignments within a collaborative team environment
