We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the role of Forest Analyst (Contractor) within our Northwestern Ontario Woodlands Operations. This position is temporary and full-time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate advanced GIS capabilities and analytical proficiency (experience with ArcPro, ArcGIS, ArcMap, Spatial Analyst, and Image Analyst is advantageous).
  • Familiarity with forest estate modeling tools (Remsoft Strategic Optimization and Tactical Optimization Models and SFMM preferred).
  • Possess expertise in forest modeling instruments (OLT, MIST, ResidualTool, NDPEGTool, WWFTool, Patchworks).
  • Execute forest modeling and prepare documentation for forest management plans.
  • Conduct tactical optimization modeling to facilitate annual harvest and wood flow planning.
  • Exhibit sound knowledge in inventory preparation and review for the development of inventory products.
  • Prepare model inputs, interpret results, and compile packages for result review.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of Ontario's Forest Management Planning Manual and Forest Information Manual.
  • Hold a designation as a Registered Professional Forester in good standing or demonstrate the ability to obtain this status.
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • 3-5 years of demonstrated experience in forest management planning.
  • A degree in Forestry.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team, communicate across all organizational levels, and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • A commitment to enhancing health and safety, efficiency, production, and planning targets for Ontario Woodlands.
  • Proficient in MS Office and possess solid computer skills.
  • Attention to detail coupled with the ability to maintain a broad perspective.
