Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Legal Advisor, Contract Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Legal Affairs department, you will play a critical role in reviewing contracts, identifying risks, and providing strategic guidance to our business teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contract Review and Risk Management
    • Review contracts at the proposal stage to identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
    • Work closely with project managers to resolve contractual issues and ensure successful project execution.
  • Legislative Updates and Compliance
    • Stay up-to-date with legislative developments that may impact our business operations.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Strategic Guidance and Negotiations
    • Provide strategic guidance to business teams on contract terms and conditions.
    • Develop and implement negotiation strategies to achieve favorable outcomes.
  • Process Improvement and Development
    • Develop and improve processes, resources, and contractual precedents to enhance our contract management capabilities.

Requirements

  • Education and Experience
    • A degree in civil or common law and membership in good standing with a Canadian provincial law society.
    • Five (5) years' experience in litigation or commercial law in the field of professional design or construction services.
  • Skills and Qualifications
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French and English.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimum supervision.
    • Leadership skills to communicate effectively and positively influence experienced professionals and managers.
