Job Title: Clinical Laboratory Assistant

At Dynacare, we are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Clinical Laboratory Assistant to join our Microbiology team in Brampton, Ontario.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing samples and/or reagents for routine processing, performing simple non-interpretive tests under the technical oversight of a Senior Clinical Laboratory Assistant or Medical Laboratory Technologist, and ensuring quality control checks and standards are run as required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare samples and/or reagents for routine processing
  • Perform simple non-interpretive tests under the technical oversight of a Senior Clinical Laboratory Assistant or Medical Laboratory Technologist
  • Ensure quality control checks and standards are run as required
  • Independently perform simple non-interpretive tests escalating to a qualified Medical Laboratory Technologist for support and guidance as required
  • Ensure quality control checks and standards are run as required
  • Participate in all quality assurance programs and ensure company and Ministry of Health (MOH) guidelines are observed
  • Perform routine maintenance of laboratory equipment as appropriate and deal with problems that arise
Requirements:
  • Medical Laboratory Assistant Certification required or graduate of an approved laboratory assistant course or Diploma/Degree in Health or Science required
  • Excellent data entry skills required
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team-centered environment
Working Conditions:
  • Required continuous standing/walking with use of fine motor skills
  • Required to perform some carrying and lifting a maximum of 30 pounds
  • Exposed to biohazardous substances, chemicals and noise variances
  • Shift work required
