Job OverviewQualifications: A Bachelor's degree in Museology, History, Archives Management, or related fields is required.
Work Environment: This position is situated within a museum or archival institution.
Key Responsibilities- Advise on the procurement of artifacts for exhibitions and collections.
- Preserve and restore historical items and artworks.
- Manage and mentor a team of technicians, interns, and volunteers.
- Assess artifacts to determine suitable restoration techniques.
- Conduct research on the provenance and significance of items.
- Educate and guide staff and interns in conservation practices.
- Craft narratives and themes for exhibitions and displays.
- Offer guidance on the proper display and storage of items to maintain their integrity.
- Coordinate the organization of collections and the setup of exhibitions.
- Provide expert consultation to institutions and private collectors.
- Oversee the care, exhibition, and circulation of collections.
- Investigate innovative conservation methods.
- Manage a team of 3-4 individuals.
- A criminal background check is mandatory.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Requires manual dexterity and attention to detail.
- Hand-eye coordination is essential.
- Physical capabilities include bending, crouching, and kneeling.
- Strong accuracy and attention to detail.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Flexibility and sound judgment.
- Dependable and a collaborative team member.
Minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.
