Position Title: Community Engagement Specialist - Rivière-du-Nord

(Canada Summer Jobs)

Become a vital part of Les Petits Frères, an organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of isolated seniors. As a member of our passionate and well-established team, you will contribute to our mission of alleviating loneliness among the elderly.

In collaboration with the regional coordinator, you will work alongside team members to develop and implement summer activities aimed at enriching the lives of our elderly community. Your role will also involve visiting seniors who are unable to participate in group activities.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning and execution of diverse activities and entertainment options for seniors, working closely with team members
  • Provide logistical assistance for organizing events or outings
  • Facilitate certain activities
  • Conduct visits to elderly individuals in their homes, residences, long-term care facilities, and hospitals
  • Communicate any changes in the health or living situations of seniors to the coordinator
  • Perform follow-up communications with seniors and volunteers
  • Help organize occasional outings for elderly individuals
  • Maintain accurate records in files

Required Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing post-secondary education (preferably completed 2 years) in fields such as special education, social work, recreational therapy, psychoeducation, psychology, or related human sciences
  • Genuine enthusiasm for supporting the elderly
  • Familiarity with non-profit organizations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong diplomacy and active listening abilities
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to work independently
  • Creative and innovative thinking

Employment Details

  • 1 temporary position for 8 weeks
  • 35-hour workweek
  • $19 hourly wage
  • Flexible schedule with a combination of in-person and remote work
