As a Mineral Land Negotiations Student at Canadian Natural, you will work alongside our team of negotiators who manage the subsurface assets for distinct geographic exploration areas. Your responsibilities will include learning about the various functions and roles within the mineral land department, developing an understanding of the key functions on our exploration teams, and aiding negotiators in the formulation and implementation of business strategies related to the acquisition and disposition of subsurface assets.

Key Accountabilities and Learnings:

  • Develop an understanding of the key functions on our exploration teams, including negotiations, exploration, exploitation, and production.
  • Aid negotiators in the formulation and implementation of business strategies related to the acquisition and disposition of subsurface assets.
  • Obtain exposure to the competitive subsurface landsale process, including posting strategies and business analysis of historical landsale information.
  • Manage mineral expiries by conducting a business analysis of Canadian Natural and competitor subsurface ownership.

What You Bring to The Role:

  • Currently enrolled in a business degree program or a related post-secondary education degree program.
  • Experience with mapping systems and/or land systems is considered an asset but not necessary.
