Position Overview

We are looking for a dedicated Scientist to join our team at Healius, a leading healthcare organization in Australia. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to our mission of providing quality, accessible healthcare services.

Work Type: Part Time (Permanent) - 37.50 hours per week

Schedule: Expected to work weekdays with the potential to cover Saturday shifts as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct both manual and automated diagnostic tests.
  • Execute all routine procedures from specimen reception to result generation for pathological diagnoses, including specimen dissection.
  • Assist with inventory management and stock control.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with established protocols.
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained and operated according to standards.
  • Stay updated with current scientific knowledge and advancements.
  • Participate in routine quality assurance activities and audits.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and the development of new assays as needed.
  • Provide training and support to staff members.
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders regarding test results and referrals as necessary.
  • Adhere to all policies, procedures, and workplace health and safety regulations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science), or a related field.
  • Proven experience and expertise in the relevant discipline.
  • Strong understanding of quality control, quality assurance processes, and troubleshooting methods.
  • Ability to identify and implement quality improvement initiatives in line with accreditation standards.
  • Demonstrated independence in performing duties with minimal supervision.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and excellence.
  • Willingness to comply with departmental and organizational policies.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent time management, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • This position may require specific vaccination history as per departmental requirements.
