Job Title: Division Manager, Sewer & Drainage Technical Services

Job Summary:

Metro Vancouver is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Division Manager, Sewer & Drainage Technical Services to lead a team of technical staff responsible for the operation, maintenance, and upgrade of wastewater and drainage conveyance facilities. The successful candidate will provide strategic direction and leadership to ensure the effective and efficient management of the division's activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of technical staff responsible for the operation, maintenance, and upgrade of wastewater and drainage conveyance facilities.
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to ensure the effective and efficient management of the division's activities.
  • Develop and implement systems and processes to enable the continual assessment of wastewater collection infrastructure and determine the overall condition of assets.
  • Adopt relevant operating and maintenance practices and technologies as appropriate and deliver system optimization projects.
  • Provide technical support for field-based wastewater collections and drainage operations staff.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Accountable for the Division's budget preparation and reporting and ensures the appropriate allocation of resources within the approved budget.
  • Monitors and controls spending and ensures the effective and efficient expenditure of allocated funds.

Requirements:

  • University degree in engineering or other relevant field and 10 years of recent, related progressive experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Formal professional or technical designation in appropriate area of expertise.
  • Extensive technical expertise and understanding of regulatory requirements related to the design, construction, operations and maintenance of Metro Vancouver's wastewater collection infrastructure.
  • Excellent budgeting and financial management skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain respectful working relationships.
  • Ability to lead, supervise, coach and guide others.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office programs.
