Position Overview:
The California State University is seeking a dedicated Institutional Compliance Officer to oversee and manage compliance within research activities, ensuring adherence to ethical standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the designated Research Integrity Officer (RIO), supervising administrative personnel who support the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC).
- Lead the hiring, training, and evaluation of compliance coordinators, ensuring a high standard of operational excellence.
- Collaborate with various departments, including Risk Management and Academic Affairs, to address emerging compliance needs.
- Develop and implement support programs and recommendations as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations regarding research involving human and animal subjects, alongside university policies.
- Act as the primary contact for federal inspections and inquiries related to compliance programs.
- Organize and conduct semi-annual site inspections as mandated.
- Create and update training materials for campus-wide distribution.
- Foster a culture of exceptional customer service within the compliance team.
- Assist with special projects aimed at enhancing compliance efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant field, with a preference for candidates holding a master's degree.
- Proven experience in managing compliance programs and understanding of legal and administrative concepts.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
- Strong analytical skills to assess policy issues and recommend effective solutions.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion within the workplace.
