Position Overview:

The role involves delivering design and technical analysis, ensuring cost efficiency, and resolving engineering challenges.

The anticipated salary range for this position is between $105,000 - $115,000 annually, reflecting our dedication to competitive compensation aligned with industry standards and your qualifications.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with Sales, Engineering, and Project Management to meet proposal deadlines while balancing multiple internal priorities. They will also assist Sales efforts in direct interactions with consulting engineers and clients when necessary.

Job Responsibilities:

Key Functions:

  1. Collaborate with Finning Sales to develop innovative, cost-effective technical solutions for projects within designated timelines.
  2. Conduct analysis of mechanical and electrical system operations, researching technical solutions for application challenges.
  3. Prepare comprehensive reports with recommendations for cost-effective solutions addressing operational deficiencies.
  4. Evaluate suppliers and their offerings, fostering strong relationships with key partners.
  5. Engage with customers during Sales interactions to showcase Finning's expertise and promote unique solutions.
  6. Create project operating philosophies and detailed project scope documents.
  7. Coordinate with Project Management and Engineering to ensure smooth project transitions.
  8. Review lessons learned from completed projects to enhance the estimating process for future opportunities.
  9. Examine CAT Application Engineering guidelines and incorporate them into proposals.
  10. Develop engineering drawings specific to projects.

Required Knowledge:

  1. Understanding of Mechanical & Electrical Electric Power Generation (EPG) technologies.
  2. Familiarity with Finning's processes and policies.
  3. Insight into the power systems business and customer drivers.
  4. Ability to assess cost options for complex technical solutions.
  5. Proficiency in engineering software, particularly Autocad 2D.
  6. Experience in preparing mechanical and/or electrical estimates for customer contracts.
  7. Ensure that commercial estimates include established, tracked, and met delivery dates.

Education & Experience:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 3 to 4 years of experience in EPG applications.
  2. Registration as a Professional Engineer in BC or Alberta, or a commitment to achieve PENG registration.
  3. Strong analytical skills with a proven ability to meet tight deadlines.
  4. Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  5. A collaborative team player capable of engaging with diverse groups.
  6. Robust technical skills.
  7. Must hold a professional engineering license.
