Education Assistant Level 1 - Bilingual

**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a qualified Education Assistant to support students in a dynamic and inclusive learning environment. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong ability to work with students of diverse backgrounds, and a commitment to providing high-quality support services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist students with academic and personal needs, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with students, teachers, and other school staff.
  • Provide support with classroom activities, homework, and special projects.
  • Assist with behavioral interventions and conflict resolution strategies.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

  • 6 months of relevant training or experience in education assistance, including a recent Okanagan College Education Assistant certificate or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with current special education technology.
  • Proven ability to learn and use new technology, possess literacy, numeracy, and English skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and good communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work in a team setting.
  • Bilingual - fluency in French and English is required.

Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will work in a school setting, with a schedule dependent on student needs. Services will not be required on In-Service and Non-Instructional Days.

Compensation:

The hourly wage for this position is $28.15.
