Position Overview

The Physiotherapist plays a crucial role within the Rehabilitation and Supportive Care Services team, reporting directly to the Program Manager. As an integral member of a multidisciplinary clinical team, the physiotherapist collaborates with peers to establish team objectives, evaluates the effectiveness of interventions, addresses challenges, and shares responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans for patients experiencing impairments, pain, functional limitations, or disabilities in a tertiary care environment.
  • Provide education and communication to various stakeholders, including other healthcare professionals, patients, families, and caregivers regarding health promotion, physiotherapy interventions, and pain management strategies.
  • Supervise and evaluate physiotherapy students, as well as oversee the work of physiotherapy assistants and aides.
  • May be required to deliver services across the entire Rehabilitation and Supportive Care Services portfolio.

Qualifications

We invite applications from candidates who possess the following:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy or an equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
  • Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapy and eligibility for membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association.
  • Participation in continuing education courses relevant to the field is considered an asset.
  • Current certification in CPR.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in additional languages is advantageous, with a preference for French.

Work Schedule

  • This is a part-time position, approximately 70% FTE, totaling 52.5 hours bi-weekly.
  • The assignment is expected to last for approximately five months.

Compensation

The hourly wage for this position is $42.89.
