Position Overview:

The Anti-Racism Advisor operates under the guidance of the Director of the Anti-Racism and Cultural Diversity Office (ARCDO). This role is pivotal in assisting the office with the formulation, execution, and management of the University’s initiatives focused on Anti-Racism and Cultural Diversity across its three campuses.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design and implement ongoing educational programs aimed at combating discrimination and harassment, while promoting Anti-Racism and Cultural Diversity within the university community.
  2. Collaborate with student organizations, faculty, and staff across all campuses to create and execute educational and outreach initiatives related to equity and cultural diversity.
  3. Serve as a confidential resource for students, faculty, and staff, providing guidance on available services, policies, and support options.
  4. Assist in the analysis and application of Human Rights policies and contribute to institutional projects.
  5. Contribute to the development of educational curricula on anti-discrimination and harassment, working closely with Divisional Equity Directors and EDI leads.
  6. Provide briefings to the Director on emerging issues and assist in the revision of policy documents.
  7. Identify and implement improvements in office procedures to enhance efficiency.

Work Environment:

This position requires a high level of sensitivity and confidentiality, as well as the ability to maintain a professional demeanor while interacting with a diverse range of individuals, including senior administrators, faculty, staff, and community members.

Qualifications:

I. Education: A graduate degree in a relevant field, ideally with a focus on dispute resolution, human rights, diversity, equity, and inclusion, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

II. Experience: A minimum of four years of relevant experience in developing and delivering programming, with a strong understanding of anti-racism and cultural diversity frameworks. Experience in curriculum design, group facilitation, and project management within a post-secondary context is preferred.

III. Skills: Exceptional writing, editing, and research capabilities; strong interpersonal and communication skills; and the ability to engage effectively with diverse groups. Proficiency in social media and the ability to work under pressure while meeting deadlines are essential.

Knowledge of current trends and legislation in Human Rights within higher education is also required.
