Director, Software Engineering

Agfa HealthCare, a division of the Agfa-Gevaert Group, is seeking a seasoned professional to lead our Waterloo R&D site. As Director, Software Engineering, you will be responsible for coaching, mentoring, and motivating a team of experienced software engineers to deliver high-quality products on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the site by setting clear goals, objectives, and strategies to ensure alignment with the company's vision and R&D roadmap.
  • Develop and implement effective communication and influencing skills to connect with other R&D sites and teams, ensuring seamless collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Ensure the spreading of knowledge and building bench strength for key positions, while leading the team to deliver products with quality, on time, and efficiently.
  • Manage departmental strategy and people management, leading a team of experienced people managers to deliver business results.
  • React to customer complaints and defects in a timely manner to increase customer satisfaction.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 5-10 years of relevant experience in software engineering, healthcare IT, or a related field.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, project management experience, and ability to identify and mitigate risks that may impact project delivery.
  • Full stack development expertise, Java, Cloud & Cloud Native development, and healthcare industry experience.
