About the Role

Kativik Ilisarniliriniq (La commission scolaire du Nunavik) is seeking a highly skilled Education Consultant to join our team. As a key member of our Compassionate Schools initiative, you will play a vital role in promoting a healthy and safe school environment for students and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Promote Trauma-Informed Practices: Develop and implement training programs to enhance school personnel's understanding of intergenerational and cultural trauma.
  • Support School Environment Development: Collaborate with school staff to create a positive and inclusive school culture, promoting the well-being of students and staff.
  • Culturally Responsive Practices: Adapt and promote the use of approaches and tools rooted in Inuit culture and values to support student success.
  • Relationship Building: Foster strong relationships with school personnel, community stakeholders, and other relevant parties to ensure effective implementation of the Compassionate Schools approach.
  • Behavioural Support: Provide training and support to school staff on behavioural management strategies to promote student success and well-being.
  • Training and Development: Develop and deliver training programs on the Compassionate Schools approach, including workshops and materials to support school personnel.
  • Nurture Group Support: Collaborate with school staff to develop and implement the nurture group program, ensuring consistency and high-quality services.
  • Mentorship and Coaching: Mentor team leaders and internal coaches on school teams to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Travel and Collaboration: Travel frequently throughout Nunavik to support school teams and collaborate with community stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
  • Experience: A minimum of two years of experience in education or a related field.
  • Language: Fluency in two of the following languages: Inuktitut, French, English.
  • Work Experience: Experience working with students with challenging behaviors and knowledge of trauma-informed practices.
  • Skills: Strong classroom management skills, knowledge of Positive Behavioural Interventions and Supports (PBIS), and experience leading group discussions.
  • Cultural Competence: Knowledge of Inuit culture and history, and a strong work ethic.
Classification and Benefits

This position belongs to job category 2104, with a salary range of $49,456 to $92,027 annually, depending on qualifications and experience. Benefits include 20 days paid vacation, 2-week paid holiday period, free parking, and more.
