Job Title: Front End/Roll Off Driver

GFL Environmental is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Class 1 Front End/Roll Off Driver to join our team in Cranbrook, British Columbia.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will operate one or more vehicle types, including Front End, Roll Off, and other trucks, to collect solid waste and recyclables in a safe and efficient manner. The driver will also be responsible for delivering collected materials to landfills, MRFs, or transfer stations, and filling in for various routes as needed to ensure consistent service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate vehicles with both automatic and standard transmission to collect solid waste, yard waste, and/or recyclables on a collection route.
  • Complete pre-trip and post-trip safety lane inspections and reports, daily truck reports, route sheets, and other documentation requested by supervisors.
  • Communicate vehicle mechanical problems to mechanics and supervisors immediately.
  • Operate trucks and equipment using prescribed techniques to eliminate driver-induced mechanical failures.
  • Follow all safety standards, equipment checks, and precautions in performance of all duties.
  • Comply with all federal, state/provincial, local, and company rules on safety and vehicle operation.
  • Report all accidents or incidents to supervisors immediately.
  • Maintain accurate records of services performed.
  • Perform extra or special pick-ups.
  • May be needed to complete route observations on all routes on a pre-determined basis, document findings, and provide reports to immediate supervisors.
  • Stop service directives.
  • Develop directions to new accounts.
  • May assist with training other drivers.
  • Attend safety and branch meetings.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by management.
Requirements:
  • Must have a valid Commercial Driver's License.
  • Minimum one (1) year of commercial driving experience or CDL school certificate.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to safely drive the truck and operate the equipment.
  • Ability to exert muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 50 pounds repetitively using proper lifting techniques.
  • Sitting is required 75% of the time due to the primary function of driving.
  • Work in outdoor environment up to 100% of the time.
