Human Resources Manager

At J.D. Irving, Limited, we understand that our success is driven by our workforce. The Human Resources Manager will operate from our facility in New Brunswick. This role reports directly to the Plant Manager and indirectly to the Vice President of Human Resources. The HR Manager will oversee all essential Human Resource functions, ensuring the effective implementation of HR processes and practices at the site. This position is vital in cultivating a high-performance culture and promoting our Leadership Behaviors. It is a permanent, full-time role with English as the primary language of communication.

Job Requirements
  1. Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business or Human Resources preferred.
  2. Experience: 7-10 years of progressive HR experience; experience in a manufacturing setting is advantageous.
  3. Knowledge of change management principles, methodologies, and tools.
  4. Ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.
  5. Capacity to maintain strict confidentiality.
  6. Strong sense of urgency and responsiveness.
  7. Excellent interpersonal skills and a team-oriented approach.
  8. Ability to mentor and coach others.
  9. Capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
  10. Organizational skills with a strategic planning mindset.
  11. CPHR designation preferred.
Main Duties/Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with leadership to understand and implement the organization's human resource and talent strategy, focusing on current and future talent needs, recruitment, retention, and succession planning.
  2. Provide support and guidance to leaders and employees on complex and sensitive HR matters.
  3. Ensure the effective delivery of various HR programs, including performance management, capability development, employee engagement, disability management, and onboarding.
  4. Guarantee that HR fundamentals and processes are executed timely and to the highest quality standards.
  5. Work closely with the Recruitment team and hiring managers to identify required skills and competencies for open positions and plan for workforce needs.
  6. Stay informed about trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  7. Promote and support learning and development initiatives that provide internal growth opportunities for employees.
  8. Oversee performance management processes, including employee disciplinary actions, terminations, and investigations.
  9. Ensure compliance with federal and provincial employment laws and regulations.
