About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Assistant to join our team at Travelers. As a key member of our legal support team, you will play a critical role in assisting our lawyers with a variety of tasks, including preparing legal documentation, drafting correspondence, and maintaining calendars.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review legal documents, including pleadings, discovery, and motions, in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Draft and respond to correspondence, including emails and letters, in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Manage and maintain calendars, including scheduling appointments and meetings, and ensuring timely follow-up on tasks and deadlines.
  • Provide administrative support to lawyers, including data entry, filing, and other tasks as needed.
  • Assist with the coordination of examinations for discovery, medical examinations, and other court-designated hearings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by lawyers and management.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree or vocational training in a related field.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience as a Legal Assistant, or consistently high-level performance.
  • Prior corporate experience preferred.
  • Experience in insurance defense litigation preferred.
  • Superior written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with court personnel, other attorneys, and their staff, clients, witnesses, and outside vendors.
  • Highly proficient in MS Word, MS Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure.
  • Ability to identify urgency and prioritize tasks accordingly.
  • Ability to manage time and multitask effectively.
