Job Summary

The Community Mental Health Worker provides comprehensive psychosocial assessment, consultation, and evidence-informed counseling intervention to individuals referred to the mental health program for mental health-related problems. This role serves as a welcoming point of entry for clients and referral sources, promoting therapeutic relationships through the service engagement process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide psychosocial assessment, consultation, and counseling intervention to individuals with mental health-related problems
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on informed consent and client capacity
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and service sectors to provide comprehensive care
  • Engage in ongoing education and maintain competency congruent with Southern Health-Santé Sud policies and professional standards
  • Exercise independent judgment in determining work priorities and methods
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited post-secondary education in Health-Related Social Sciences
  • Active license and registration to practice as required by professional association and provincial legislation
  • Certificate in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills (ASIST)
  • Knowledge and understanding of mental health services, human developmental theory, and mental health concerns
  • Advanced mental health psychosocial assessment skills and knowledge of evidence-informed therapeutic counseling models
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite of programs and other technological applications
  • Minimum of two years supervised counseling experience
Conditions of Employment
  • Completes and maintains a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, Adult Abuse Registry Check, and Child Abuse Registry Check
  • Immunized as a condition of employment in accordance with Southern Health-Santé Sud policy
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license, all-purpose insured vehicle, and liability insurance
