Position Overview

The Governing Council of The Salvation Army is seeking a dedicated professional to join our team as a Halfway House Worker. This role is crucial in supporting individuals in their journey towards reintegration into society.

Qualifications
  • Education: Completion of a college or CEGEP program, or equivalent non-university certification (1 to 2 years).
  • Experience: Training will be provided; prior experience in a similar environment is an asset.
Work Environment

This position operates within a correctional facility and a halfway house, focusing on creating a supportive atmosphere for residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct administrative and office tasks.
  • Connect offenders with community and social service programs.
  • Facilitate communication between inmates and their families.
  • Oversee housekeeping duties.
  • Provide crisis intervention and suicide prevention support.
  • Manage conflict resolution among residents.
  • Supervise the daily activities of clients residing in group homes and halfway houses.
Supervision

Responsible for overseeing a group of 16-20 individuals.

Certifications
  • First Aid Certification.
  • CPR Certification.
Security Requirements

Must possess an enhanced reliability security clearance.

Transportation

Access to personal transportation and a vehicle is required.

Work Conditions
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail is essential.
Physical Requirements

Must be able to handle weights up to 9 kg (20 lbs).
