Job Title: Education Assistant III (Autism)

We are seeking qualified professionals to join our team as Education Assistants III (Autism) at School District #41 (Burnaby).

Job Summary:

As an Education Assistant III (Autism), you will provide support for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in and out of the classroom. Your role will involve:

  • Assisting students with daily living skills, such as personal care and hygiene
  • Providing emotional support and stability to students with ASD
  • Assisting with academic and behavioral interventions
  • Collaborating with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans
  • Participating in professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge
Responsibilities:

As an Education Assistant III (Autism), your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-on-one support to students with ASD in a variety of settings
  • Assisting with transitions between classes and activities
  • Helping students with organization and time management skills
  • Providing feedback to teachers and other support staff on student progress
  • Participating in team meetings and contributing to the development of individualized education plans
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working with students with ASD or other exceptionalities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
