Job Overview

The Finance Manager will play a crucial role within Brookfield's Corporate division, reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Finance. This position is pivotal and offers significant exposure to a rewarding career path within a leading global asset management organization. The Finance Manager will be engaged in overseeing the financial reporting and analytical processes for Brookfield's corporate activities, collaborating with various internal teams to pinpoint and execute essential enhancement opportunities. Additionally, there is potential for providing guidance and mentorship to a developing team of senior accountants and interns.

Key Responsibilities:

The responsibilities associated with this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee the consolidation and summary of financial results for entities within the corporate sector on a quarterly and annual basis for internal management insights and compliance purposes.
  • Direct the execution of intricate technical accounting tasks and address related issues, coordinating with other business units and departments.
  • Manage the monthly financial closing processes and identify opportunities for practical enhancements to drive efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Review daily journal entries and period-end accruals.
  • Supervise the Finance team's responsibilities in shared service functions, including treasury and accounts payable.
  • Engage regularly with and address inquiries from other Brookfield business groups and departments.
  • Evaluate the work of junior team members and provide mentorship.
  • Continuously seek efficiencies in processes, tools, and reports, making recommendations for integration into our operational framework.
  • Lead special projects as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • A minimum of four to six (4-6) years of progressive experience in an accounting or auditing role.
  • A recognized professional accounting designation (CPA).
  • Familiarity with public company reporting standards under IFRS.
  • Strong proficiency in financial systems, particularly advanced Excel capabilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to supporting the team.
  • Highly organized, capable of thriving in a dynamic, complex, and fast-paced environment, with the ability to adapt to shifting priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and proactive in managing workload and pursuing professional development.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics, HFM, and/or Workiva is considered an asset.
