Senior Tax Manager

Baker Tilly is seeking a highly skilled Senior Tax Manager to join our team. This role will report directly to our Tax Partner and provide support to all members of the tax team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and prepare complex Canadian individual and corporate tax returns, ensuring all tax-related matters are adequately addressed prior to filing.
  • Review and approve technical research and tax planning recommendations for private companies.
  • Deliver high-quality tax planning, services, and advice to clients.
  • Work closely with Partners and other senior staff on business tax compliance, tax provision, and tax advisory engagements.
  • Lead special tax engagements and build and manage client relationships at a senior level.
  • Provide support, coaching, and development of firm staff with respect to tax knowledge and matters on an ongoing basis.
  • Prepare and present technical sessions to firm staff.
  • Manage engagement financials, including budgets, work-in-process variances, and billing.
Requirements:
  • Canadian Professional Accounting Designation (CPA) or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Course or Master of Tax Program.
  • 7-10+ years of public accounting experience with experience in a tax-specific environment.
  • High proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams), Caseware, and TaxPrep considered an asset.
  • Excellent attention to detail and project management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Understanding of a client-focused fast-paced work environment and the ability to effectively pivot between tasks, prioritize, and manage deliverables to meet conflicting deadlines.
  • Experience working with owner-managed businesses considered an asset.
