Job Title: Registered Practical Nurse - Emergency

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to join our Emergency Department team at Mackenzie Health. As an RPN, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care, working collaboratively with our interprofessional care team to create a world-class health experience for patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide culturally competent care to patients with complex care needs, assessing their condition and reporting changes to the team.
  • Administer and document therapeutic interventions and medications according to policies and standards.
  • Act as a patient advocate, participating in continuous quality improvement activities.
  • Contribute to safe, quality care by assessing patients, detecting changes in their condition, and reporting them to the team.

Requirements:

  • Current Certificate of Registration in the General Class with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
  • Coronary Care Course 1, or commitment to completing within 1 year of date of hire.
  • Proven clinical experience with patient-focused care, including strong patient assessment, care planning, patient education, and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Practical Nurse Diploma from an approved nursing program.
  • Membership in the Registered Practical Nurses' Association of Ontario (RPNAO).
  • At least 1 year of recent nursing experience working as a Registered Practical Nurse in an acute care setting within the past 3 years.
  • 1 year of Emergency or Telemetry experience.
  • 2 years of Medicine/Surgical experience.
