Job Summary

The City of Ottawa is seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer to join its Water Resources team. As a key member of the Infrastructure Capacity Management Program (ICMP), you will play a critical role in ensuring the City's water, wastewater, and stormwater capacities meet the needs of its growing urban area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage assignments supporting the development and implementation of the ICMP
  • Support the establishment of priorities for reviewing growth-driven capacity needs in existing local infrastructure systems
  • Establish flow monitoring and system modelling priorities
  • Lead technical work related to local system modelling and performance assessment
  • Manage studies to evaluate infrastructure capacities and identify capital projects
  • Prepare project charters for design and construction
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of capacity and overland flow tracking systems and related development review processes
  • Direct and oversee ICMP work by junior staff
  • Liaise and coordinate the various ICMP activities with various City departments and the development industry
Requirements
  • Completion of a 4-year university degree in Civil Engineering or a related Applied Sciences program
  • Minimum of 8 years of related professional experience in water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure, including planning, analysis, and design
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)
Desirable Qualifications
  • Expert knowledge in applicable technical specialty (i.e., hydrology, hydraulics, computer modeling, stormwater management, etc.) as demonstrated by advanced academic qualifications or significant direct experience
  • Knowledge of operation of water and wastewater systems
