Medical Laboratory Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our team at Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA). As a Medical Laboratory Assistant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory services.
Key Responsibilities- Receive and process patient samples, ensuring accurate and timely testing.
- Perform routine laboratory tests, such as urine tests for protein and glucose, using standardized procedures.
- Prepare and label specimens for analysis, adhering to strict quality control measures.
- Operate laboratory equipment, including electrocardiographs, and maintain accurate records of test results.
- Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare professionals, and laboratory staff to ensure seamless testing and reporting processes.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety protocols and regulations.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of laboratory policies and procedures.
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent, with completion of a recognized laboratory assistant training program.
- One year of recent experience in a laboratory setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position, including standing for long periods and lifting moderate weights.
