Job OverviewThe Wine Consultant is a key role responsible for providing strategic direction, coaching, and training for our team members and guests while prioritizing safety in daily job duties. Reporting to the Store Manager, this position involves implementing educational and creative programs, supporting private functions, and managing the personal wine locker program.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement educational programs for team members and guests, including product knowledge, sales techniques, and other relevant topics.
- Support private functions in the tasting center, ensuring exceptional customer experiences.
- Collaborate with Wine Buyers to manage the purchasing, selling, and distribution of the personal wine locker program.
- Interact with guests on the sales floor, providing expert advice, building relationships, and educating team members.
- Maintain current industry and product knowledge through periodicals, meetings, and industry events.
- Create new or enhance existing programs to improve team member and guest experiences.
- Manage the booking calendar for the tasting rooms, ensuring seamless execution of educational classes and private functions.
- Lead and inspire the team to achieve the 4 Keys to Excellence.
- Contribute to the team's commitment to Integrity, Community, and Excellence.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Recognized wine education designation.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the liquor industry.
- WSET 3 preferred or WSET 2 with a strong passion for wine.
- Experience hosting wine seminars and public events is an asset.
- Retail wine and spirits experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and managing computer files efficiently.
- Effective interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
- Motivation and ability to work in a busy environment.
- Effective planning, organization, and time management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrate the ability to maintain relationships outside of the organization that supports the organization.
- Enjoy working with the public.
- Ability to physically lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis and stand for a full 8-hour shift.
- Must be committed to a SAFE working environment.
- MUST be over 19 years of age to be considered.
- MUST have open availability and be able to work a variety of shifts that include mornings, afternoons, and evenings till 8 pm.
- This position is based out of our 248th Liquor Store, though it may require occasional travel and work at other locations as business needs arise.
