Risk Management Director

At Sun Life Financial, we're seeking a seasoned professional to lead our credit risk analytics team. As a Director, you'll be responsible for developing and implementing enterprise-wide credit risk management strategies, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of our risk models, and providing expert guidance to senior management and business stakeholders.
About the Role
This is a critical position that requires a deep understanding of credit risk management principles, methodologies, and industry standards. You'll work closely with our AVP, Credit Risk Analytics, to develop and maintain our credit risk models, ensuring they're aligned with our business objectives and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of credit risk models, including Earnings-at-Risk and Capital-at-Risk methodologies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the accuracy and reliability of our risk models.
- Provide expert guidance to senior management and business stakeholders on credit risk management strategies and best practices.
- Maintain complete and up-to-date documentation for all credit risk models and methodologies.
- Stay up-to-date with industry developments and regulatory requirements, incorporating best practices into our risk management strategies.
Requirements
- Graduate degree in actuarial science, mathematics, economics, or finance.
- 7+ years of experience in credit risk analytics, methodology, or insurance asset and liability management.
- Excellent analytical skills and intellectual curiosity.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex information.
- Experience with credit risk model development and bottom-up and top-down credit risk management methodologies.
- Good understanding of accounting standards related to the insurance industry, including IFRS9 and IFRS17.
- Technical skills in programming languages such as Python, R, and VBA.
- Familiarity with third-party credit risk applications and industry standards.
