Position Summary:

We are seeking a CNC Programmer (12-month Contract) for our operations. The CNC Programmer/Operator is tasked with developing CNC (Computer Numerical Control) programs for our manufacturing machines. This role involves interpreting technical drawings, programming toolpaths, and optimizing manufacturing workflows. The individual will also be responsible for machine setup and operation as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop CNC programs utilizing MasterCam for Brother 3-axis mills equipped with rotary tables and STAR high-speed, dual-head, 2-axis lathes.
  • Select appropriate tools and fixtures to support CNC programming and design or choose necessary tools, jigs, or fixtures for component manufacturing.
  • Create detailed process setup sheets and tool setup documentation for CNC machined components.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to validate all manufacturing processes before production commences.
  • Assist CNC Machinists in machine setup to align with production schedules.
  • Operate machinery as needed to ensure production output meets established timelines.
  • Conduct initial and in-process dimensional inspections on manufactured parts.
  • Engage in shop maintenance activities, including chip removal, packing, and general cleanliness.
  • Set up, troubleshoot, and operate various machines, including CNC lathes, CNC mills, and manual tools, under limited supervision.
  • Interpret technical drawings to ensure proper part setup for conformity and efficiency.
  • Load and transfer CNC programs between machines as required.
  • Adhere to approved work instructions and drawings.
  • Utilize various measuring tools for inspection, including micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  • Maintain production and quality standards, striving to minimize reject rates.
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance on machines and tools.
  • Ensure a clean work environment and report any machine issues to supervisors.
  • Utilize computer systems for departmental transactions.
  • Safely handle components using lifting devices.

Administrative Duties:

  • Comply with all company policies and health and safety regulations.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment as required.
  • Report workplace injuries and safety concerns promptly.
  • Maintain a positive and respectful work environment, collaborating effectively with colleagues and management.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by supporting new ideas.
  • Arrive for scheduled shifts on time and prepared to work.
  • Provide and receive constructive feedback and seek guidance when necessary.
  • Share knowledge and skills with fellow employees.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in programming with CAM software for 2-axis lathes and 3-axis mills.
  • 2-5 years of experience in CNC programming or a similar role.
  • Familiarity with Mastercam is advantageous.
  • Experience in an ISO quality-driven environment is preferred.
  • Background in manufacturing precision components and knowledge of related processes.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities in a team-oriented setting.
