About This Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Family Medicine Physician to join our team at Mahone Bay Medical Centre. As a full-time physician, you will provide comprehensive primary care to patients of all ages and stages of health or illness.

Our practice is a small collaborative team with another physician and two nurse practitioners. You will be expected to provide office-based care, in-hospital care, nursing home coverage, and participate in the on-call rotation at Fisherman's Memorial Hospital in Lunenburg.

Fisherman's Memorial Hospital is an acute care community hospital that provides inpatient, outpatient, emergency, long-term care, and community-based services. The hospital has 30 beds, including a 23-bed Veteran's Unit, and offers a range of diagnostic and treatment services.

As a Family Medicine Physician, you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of comprehensive primary health care services to patients. This includes being accountable for appropriate workload and practice, providing care and coordination of community-based care, secondary and tertiary level healthcare, and building to capacity within the first two years.

We are looking for a physician who is committed to working in a team-based environment, providing same-day or next-day access for the practice population, and participating in quality improvement and evaluation activities.

Our ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be able to work effectively in a collaborative practice, and be committed to providing high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive primary health care services to patients of all ages and stages of health or illness
  • Be accountable for appropriate workload and practice
  • Provide care and coordination of community-based care, secondary and tertiary level healthcare
  • Build to capacity within the first two years
  • Work in a team-based environment to provide same-day or next-day access for the practice population
  • Participate in quality improvement and evaluation activities

Qualifications:

  • Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
  • Eligibility for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
  • Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
