Are you a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse with a passion for primary care and mentorship? Join a dynamic clinical team in a unique healthcare environment that supports both patient care and the assessment of internationally trained physicians.
The Physician Assessment Centre of Excellence (PACE) is a dedicated assessment centre and medical clinic designed to evaluate internationally trained physicians (ITPs) in office-based primary care. PACE serves as a pathway to independent licensure in Nova Scotia by ensuring candidates demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and judgment required to practice safely and ethically in Nova Scotia.
As a Family Practice Nurse, you’ll play a vital role in delivering comprehensive, patient-centered care while also supporting the professional development of physicians new to the Canadian healthcare system. Working closely with family physicians, assessment staff, and administrative teams, this role blends clinical care, mentorship, and operational support.
What You’ll Do:
- Deliver evidence-based nursing care, including assessments, immunizations, chronic disease management, and patient education
- Collaborate with physicians and healthcare staff to ensure high-quality care and smooth clinic operations
- Support internationally trained physicians through mentorship and guidance on clinical practices and Canadian standards
- Lead or assist with onboarding, vaccine management, and quality improvement initiatives
- Use tools such as MedAccess and Ocean to support clinic efficiency and patient care
What You Bring:
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as an RN, ideally with experience in a family practice or primary care setting
- Proficiency with MedAccess, Microsoft Office, and vaccine management
- Strong communication and mentorship skills; experience with patient education and health behaviour change strategies
- BCLS certification and a commitment to continuous learning
Why Join Us?
You’ll be part of a collaborative, innovative team working at the intersection of frontline care and medical training. This is a unique opportunity to make an impact on both patients’ lives and the careers of future healthcare professionals.
