Crisis Practitioner

The post-holder will be a graduate qualified health care professional (e.g. nurse, social worker, occupational therapist), or will have substantial CAMHS clinical experience, and where appropriate will be fully registered with the appropriate professional or regulatory body (e.g. HCPC, NMC). They will have extensive clinical experience working with children and young people with emotional wellbeing and mental health difficulties.

The post holder will support their peers and be an effective team member whilst working on their own initiative. They will line manage and clinically supervise CYPMHS Mental Health Workers. They will have a commitment to collaborative working and actively supporting and liaising with other health and social professionals and agencies.

The post holder will be expected to work shifts long days and nights.

Main duties of the job

To act as an autonomous, registered practitioner who is legally and professionally accountable for own unsupervised actions guided by the professional code of conduct and Trust guidelines and protocols.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period.

Starting with NELF

NELFT place great importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks, including mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex, but may change in the future to another site which could be in either Kent, Essex or London

Job responsibilities

Have enthusiasm and drive to be part of a team responsible for nurturing and developing the service at this exciting time and contribute to the development of the service moving forward ensuring safety and care delivery to the patients we assess.

Work in conjunction with the senior clinicians and managers to support the delivery of timely and effective evidence-based therapeutic interventions to young people and families who require more intensive therapeutic support and intervention.

Provide specialist assessments where appropriate, which will be used to inform interventions with children, young people and their families as well as the networks supporting them.

Offering a short intervention to help the young person manage the crisis and support with transition to the local community team, signposting, and/or discharge.

To provide an efficient, effective, comprehensive and specialist psychological service for children and adolescents with emotional and mental health problems, their carers/parents and families.

Whereappropriate to supervise clinicians in the team and oversee allocation of cases and tasks.

To lead and contribute to multi-disciplinary assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with emotional and mental health problems, their carers/parents and families.

To undertake a range of clinical work, assessment work and parenting support.

To contribute to audit and research.

To actively engage in treatment and outcome monitoring, including the use of normed measures associated with CYP-IAPT.

Person Specification

Qualifications

- NVQ level 2 or equivalent standard of literacy and numeracy

- Qualified RMN, Social worker, other allied profession

- evidence of further cpd

Experience

- Commitment to working as part of a multi - disciplinary team

- Ability to support and supervise staff

Knowledge

- An awareness of NHS Plan, NSF and clinical governance priorities

- Knowledge of services provided by other agencies

- Knowledge of Key issues in service area

Skills

- Basic awareness of IT and IT skills

- Good interpersonal and organisation skills

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
