Our leading transit client is looking for an Intermediate BI Developer to join their team on a 12 month term. This role will be a hybrid model reporting onsite, Downtown Toronto 2-3 days a week.

Reporting to the Manager, Data Development and Technical Support, the Business Intelligence Developer is responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, and supporting business intelligence solutions.

Responsibilities and Duties:

- Collaborate with the Research and Analytics team to design, develop, and maintain Business Intelligence solutions.
- Design, develop, maintain, and document Power BI datasets, semantic layers, dashboards, and reports.
- Model data and create datasets using Microsoft Power BI and MicroStrategy.
- Support end users with Power BI tools and functionality.
- Work closely with business analysts and team members to understand requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications.
- Conduct research, document findings, and share knowledge with the project team.
- Provide accurate estimates for assigned tasks.
- Create project documentation in accordance with PMO standards.
- Perform additional project-related tasks as assigned.

Deliverables

- Self-serve analytics, dashboards, and reports.
- Detailed technical design and functional specification documents.
- Completed and unit-tested system components ready for System, QA, and User Acceptance Testing.
- Technical support during all testing phases (system integration, QA, UAT).
- Preparation for implementation activities.
- Technical documentation.
- Post-implementation support.
- Regular status reports

Must haves:

- University degree in Computer Science or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Business Intelligence Developer.
- Microsoft Power BI certification (required).
- Extensive hands-on experience developing BI solutions, including semantic layers, schemas, dashboards, and reports using Microsoft Power BI.
- Experience working on large enterprise BI projects using Microsoft Azure, Synapse, and related database services integrated with Power BI.
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Power BI user and workspace management and administration best practices.
- Experience working with SQL Server 2019 or later.
- Strong understanding of data modeling techniques and integration of BI platforms with data warehouse solutions.
- Proven ability to analyze and solve complex data issues, develop appropriate solutions, and communicate them effectively to the team.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, along with solid analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Must have, or be able to quickly acquire, comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and related orders, including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements for passengers and employees.
- Public service or transit industry experience is an asset.
