The Research and Planning Officer as a member of the Analytic & Reporting team within Business Intelligence provides data analysis and reports in response to complex queries from clients across all levels Continuing Care in the Edmonton Zone. They consult with clients (e.g., multi-disciplinary Project teams, Operational management teams and other AHS analysts) to fully understand and define the service/query/information requested; determines the appropriate methodology, data types and sources to use; completes the research and provides interpretations and recommendations; and presents the findings/information in the format requested. The work done by the Research and Planning Officer supports clinical and business planning, strategic planning, program and system planning and evaluation, research, as well as performance reporting for the Edmonton Zone Continuing Care. They work with multiple data types (e.g. Waitlist data, Admission/Discharge/Transfer data, Continuing Care administrative and clinical data, Emergency Department data, and quality indicators, etc.) and multiple data sources (e.g. Connect Care, Meditech, Pathways, HomeFirst and other health and business data systems) and is expected to support analytics that integrate data across multiple and complex data sources. The Research and Planning Officer also provides advice, recommends and develops performance measures, interfacing and liaising with clinical networks and various client groups outside of Continuing Care. Knowledge of leading Analytics practices and data trends contributes to the overall improvement of the capacity, quality and processes of the analytics team and Performance Measurement and Reporting (PMR). As a Research and Planning Officer, you will provide data and information in response to complex queries from clients across all levels (e.g., interdisciplinary project teams, operational management teams and other AHS analysts). You will consult and conduct with clients to fully understand and define the service/query/information requested, determining the appropriate methodology, data types and sources to use. You will complete the research and statistical analysis to provide interpretations and recommendations and present the findings/information in the format requested. Master's degree in a related field (e.g. community health sciences, health economics, biomedical statistics, epidemiology, quality assurance). Master's-level education with a strong data analysis component in a related field, e.g., community health sciences, health economics, biomedical statistics, epidemiology, quality assurance, or several years of equivalent experience. Required certification or proficiency in EPIC analytic tools and SQL server. Minimum five years’ experience in the application of information technology, database design and information management. Minimum five years’ experience working with spreadsheets, databases and tools for querying, integrating, analyzing, interpreting, reporting and disseminating data. Minimum three years' related experience in a healthcare environment ideally with some size and complexity. CHIM certification an asset.
