Full-time, contract (12 months)

Position summary

Reporting to the IT operations manager, the IT support technician is responsible for desktop and applications support for all employees. This role is the first point of contact for end users and provides support to developers. It offers hands-on experience in configuring and deploying workstations and network devices, working with new technologies, and being an integral part of the IT team. Responsibilities include troubleshooting and assisting via phone, email, and in person.

Candidates should be customer service focused, efficient, proactive, and able to communicate technical matters in everyday language. CPSBC seeks an energetic individual with a result-oriented attitude to serve as the primary contact for end users.

Duties and responsibilities

Includes but is not limited to:

1. Communicating clearly with technical and non-technical users to resolve and document issues, managing multiple cases as needed.
2. Handling help requests from end users and escalating issues when necessary.
3. Maintaining a problem and solution log for team use.
4. Performing troubleshooting, updates, and documentation.
5. Executing hardware/software installs, upgrades, backups, and system configurations.
6. Supporting deployment, administration, and maintenance of desktops.
7. Learning organization-specific software and hardware.
8. Performing other duties as assigned.

Skills and qualifications

Required include:

- Degree or diploma in IT, computer science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Strong understanding of Windows, software applications, and hardware support (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Proficiency with software technologies and hardware (applicants may be quizzed).
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Ability to work independently and escalate issues appropriately.
- Self-starter with good planning and organizational skills.
- Positive attitude and enthusiasm.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.

The annual salary ranges from $59,267 to $74,083.
