About Neskonlith Indian Band

The Neskonlith Indian Band is a vibrant Indigenous community dedicated to fostering a sustainable future for our members. We are looking for a skilled Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our team and lead our financial strategy.

Position Summary

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will be responsible for the overall financial management of the Neskonlith Indian Band, overseeing budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance with relevant legislation, including the Indian Act and the Financial Transparency Act.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and implement comprehensive financial strategies aligned with the Band’s objectives.

- Oversee the preparation of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

- Ensure compliance with the Indian Act, Financial Transparency Act, and all relevant federal and provincial regulations.

- Lead the annual budgeting process, including forecasting and financial planning.

- Manage cash flow and optimize investment strategies for the Band’s financial sustainability.

- Coordinate external audits and liaise with auditors to ensure compliance and transparency.

- Provide strategic financial advice to Chief and Council to support decision-making.

- Supervise the finance team, fostering professional development and teamwork.

- Ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial records and reporting systems.

Qualifications

- A recognized accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, or CGA) is required.

- Minimum of five years of experience in a senior financial management role, preferably in Indigenous governance or the public sector.

- Strong knowledge of the Indian Act, Financial Transparency Act, and relevant financial regulations.

- Proven track record in financial planning, analysis, and reporting.

- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with diverse stakeholders.

- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.

- Proficient in financial management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
