We have an opportunity for an Associate DevOps Engineer to join our DevOps team inBurnaby, reporting to the Manager, DevOps in a unique opportunity to kickstart your career in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. In this pivotal role, you willhelp build and maintain the infrastructure that powers our products and services and will work to automate and streamline our operations and processes. Collaborating closely with software developers, QA engineers, and IT staff, you will be instrumental in improving deployment workflows, monitoring systems, and ensuring high availability and scalability of our applications.

Be a Contributor — What You’ll Do

- Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions, Jenkins, FluxCD/ArgoCD.

- Collaborate with development teams to optimize build and release processes

- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues across cloud and on-prem environments

- Automate infrastructure provisioning using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation

- Support containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes

- Improve Vulnerability remediation process.

- Participate in on-call rotations and incident response

- Document processes and contribute to internal knowledge bases

Be Prepared — What You Bring

- Familiarity with Linux/Unix systems and shell scripting

- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)

- Understanding of CI/CD concepts and DevOps principles

- Experience with version control systems (Git)

- Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn

- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field

Be Successful — Your Path

First 90 Days: Immerse in our culture, connect with mentors (Blox Buddies), and map the systems and meet with key stakeholders that rely on your work. Discuss and create short/long term goals.

Six Months:

- Establish technical foundations – Become comfortable with core DevOps tools ex: CI/CD pipelines, Git, K8s, Terraform, Jenkins etc.

- Strengthen understanding of cloud fundamentals.

- Build operational awareness – Gain familiarity with team's infrastructure, monitoring tools, can troubleshoot common issues.

- Contribute to documentation (runbooks, onboarding guides, pipeline instructions).

One Year:

- Become proficient in infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible, Helm).

- Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines for multiple services.

- Deeply understand container orchestration (Kubernetes clusters, scaling, networking).

- Implement monitoring, alerting, and logging best practices.

- Identify bottlenecks and proactively improve system performance.

- Automate manual processes across deployment, scaling, and incident response.

- Contribute to cost optimization and security hardening in cloud environments.
