JOB TITLE: Tribal Nursing Officer
LOCATION: IRTC Sub-Office, Headingley, MB
TERM: ASAP – March 31, 2025 (with possibility of renewal)
SALARY: Based on education and experience
Reporting to the Director of Health, the Tribal Nursing Officer’s main focus is to oversee the management, coordination and delivery of the overall day-to-day operations, planning, development and implementation strategies for IRTC’s Public Health Services while actively supporting and collaborating with programs in each of the affiliated and independent communities in the IRTC region, programs & staff and other specialized service providers to assure the successful achievement of IRTC’s vision, mission and program objectives. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Provide leadership and direction to planning, organizing, implementing, maintaining and evaluating culturally relevant and safe Public Health Services. Conduct this in a manner that is respectful of diversity, and in alignment with the culture and traditions of the communities served.
- Develops, coordinates and oversees the management and implementation of IRTC’s Public Health Services.
- Ensure health emergency management, preparedness planning and/or pandemic planning is in place and well communicated for the communities served.
- Lead the Public Health Services’ teams to ensure reporting, program activities and deliverables are achieved as according to IRTC’s strategies, funding agreements, priorities and timelines.
- Identifies opportunities to promote and enhance Public Health Services program activities, develop materials and resources, prepare and deliver presentations.
- Advocate for IRTC’s First Nations / Health Advisory Board in the delivery of Public Health Services to ensure quality programs are delivered within the communities.
- Oversee the conducted research; assemble, analyze and compile data/statistics and other information to formulate/support policy and/or program development, reports and to support funding opportunities for new and existing programs/projects.
- Participates in the analysis of data to identify trends, health problems, environmental health hazards, and social and economic conditions that adversely affects the health of First Nations populations.
Qualifications
- A University degree in the Bachelor of Science with 2-3 years of work experience.
- Must be registered and in good standing with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba.
- 2-3 years of experience in program management and coordination in Public Health Services, preferably within a First Nation environment.
- Must have a class 5 driver’s license, reliable vehicle and ability to travel.
- Must be able to provide a Criminal Record Check.
- Ability to speak and understand Saulteaux/Ojibway is an asset.
