The EMG Technologist (Electroneurophysiology Technologist I) is responsible to perform standard neurophysiology tests. The Technologist I will primarily carry out EMG Studies and Nerve Conduction Studies to support the service delivery within the Ambulatory Care Neurosciences Department at the Kaye Edmonton Clinic (KEC). The successful candidate may be required based on patient and staff priorities to provide site support which may involve providing cross coverage at the Walter Mackenzie Centre (WMC) site or other Neurophysiology Clinic settings. This is skilled technical work involving electromyography testing and nerve conduction studies to obtain data to assist in the diagnosis of neurological disorders. The Technologist will be able to assist with patient Preparation for procedure, adjusting test parameters based on individual patient, dealing with patient related concerns and alerting appropriate personal as required. The Technologist I works collaboratively with members of the multidisciplinary health care team, utilizing the principles of patient-centered care in meeting the diagnostic needs of this patient population. Good interpersonal and communication skills required. Organizational skills and ability to work independently required. As an EMG Technologist (Electroneurophysiology Technologist I) you will be responsible to perform standard neurophysiology tests. You will perform technical work involving electromyography testing and nerve conduction studies to obtain data to assist in the diagnosis of neurological disorders. Registered or eligible for registration with the Board of Registration of EMG Technologists of Canada (BRETC). Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT). Previous experience in clinical neurophysiology setting required. A minimum of one year of related experience in a health care setting is required. Demonstration of excellent assessment, critical-thinking, organizational and patient care skills is required. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills required. Experience with strong collaborative skills and the ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team setting displaying flexibility and excellent communication skills is required. This position requires the ability to communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team members and the Unit Manager. - Ability to work in an environment with multiple, sometimes competing demands, while maintaining a strong focus on patients and their required follow-up care is required. The successful candidate requires the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated ability to be flexible in dealing with changing and/or unpredictable situations. Physical demands including lifting up to 30lbs, pushing and pulling, walking, sitting for prolonged periods, standing for prolonged periods, reaching, transferring and transporting patients and equipment on a frequent basis required. Demonstrated understanding of a Patient-Centered Care Service delivery model. Casual Staff Must have availability to pick up shifts regularly at short and advance notice. Experience with Connect Care. BLS Certified. Experience with Electromyography and nerve conduction studies.
