Wage Benefits
In addition to regular wages, regular Wage employees receive 11.2% in lieu of benefits and vacation leave:
- 5.2 percent of regular wage earnings instead of paid holidays.
- 6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of annual vacation pay.
In addition to the regular wages and the additional pay in lieu of benefits and vacation, regular wage employees are entitled to shift premium pay:
- $3.25 per hour for weekends and holidays
- $2.75 per hour for evenings

Hidden Valley Ski Resort is located in Cypress Hills Provincial Park (also known as Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park). The Park spans the Southeast corner of Alberta and the Southwest corner of Saskatchewan. The unique landscape of the area contrasts the surrounding prairie landscapes, making it an exciting destination for winter recreation opportunities.
The Ski Resort is located on the Alberta side of the park, 10 minutes from the town site of Elkwater, AB and 40 min from Medicine Hat, AB. For more information about Hidden Valley Ski Resort, visit https://albertaparks.ca/hiddenvalley .
Ski Patrol Duties
- On-hill public safety and first aid response in emergency health and safety situations.
- Assessing condition of injured parties; administering first aid treatment and transitioning to emergency personnel if required.
- Assisting with emergency lift evacuation.
- Clearly communicating with other ski hill departments and key emergency contacts.
- Ensuring accurate reporting of all first aid and emergency incidents and submitting necessary documentation.
- Advising on run closures and ensuring appropriate signage is in place.
This position primarily works outdoors in variable winter weather conditions and cold temperatures and requires you have great physical stamina. Working across departments may be required to fulfil operation needs.

Qualifications
Required:
- High School diploma plus some related ski hill experience (i.e. up to 12 months).
In addition, you will need to provide prior to employment:
- Advanced First Aid and Advanced CPR Certification.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent and Driver’s Abstract, less than 6 demerits.
Additional Assets to be successful in this role:
- Canadian Ski Patrol certification is an advantage.
- Approximately 12 months related experience.
- Demonstrated advanced skiing or snowboarding ability.
- Ability to maintain composure during high-stress emergency incidents.
- Physically fit as this is a physically demanding position; must be able to lift 25kg.
- Experience operating a snowmobile.
- Knowledge of park facilities/services, especially Hidden Valley Ski Resort.

Shift Information:
- Shifts are based on 36.25 hours weekly.
- Candidates must be willing to work weekends and holidays, varying start dates from Late November 2025, until March 31, 2026, pending end of ski season and operational needs.
- Multiple positions are available.
- Various low-cost accommodations are available for rent in Elkwater.
- There is no public transportation to the Ski Resort, you must have reliable transportation to and from work. The Ski Resort is located about 10 minutes from Elkwater and about 40 minutes from Medicine Hat.
Any costs associated with obtaining required documents/checks as noted or interview travel expenses, will be the responsibility of the candidate. Out-of-province applicants can obtain the required documents/checks from the province they currently reside in.
