As a Laboratory Assistant – Mobile Collections Coordinator, you will coordinate the day‑to‑day operations of the Mobile Collections Program, including coaching staff, managing workflow, and delivering client services. You will also perform the duties of a Laboratory Assistant, obtaining blood samples and other specimens from patients for diagnostic testing. You will provide outstanding customer service to create the best possible patient experience, displaying empathy, care, and kindness even in stressful situations. Status: Permanent • Full‑Time • Hours: Mon‑Fri, 6:30 am – 2:30 pm • Location: Leon Avenue (5N), Kelowna • Discipline: LHSC • Workstyle: 100% onsite • Internal Deadline: Monday, November 10th, 2025 at 5 pm EST Why Dynacare is an amazing place for YOU: - Join an award‑winning "Top Employer" with meaningful and impactful career opportunities - Access a health and wellness benefits program that supports you and your loved ones - Grow and thrive with a dynamic, successful company through internal mobility opportunities - Invest in your future through RRSP match benefits and an employee stock purchase program - Experience a collaborative, diverse workforce that prioritizes dignity and respect for all How YOU will make a difference: - Coordinate the BC Operations Mobile Collections Program - Sort and process patient requisitions received from physician offices for the Central Okanagan region - Organise and maintain daily scheduling of collection services - Plan routes according to required travel time and specimen integrity - Communicate with patients, caregivers, long‑term‑care facilities, co‑workers, clinics, and physicians about collection service requirements and troubleshoot problem samples - Provide training and guidance for the Mobile Collections Program, training and orient new employees as required - Develop and maintain SOPs relating to Mobile Collections - Visit nursing homes, retirement homes, and private homes to perform venipuncture collections (venipuncture or micro‑method as approved) - Collect various other specimens from patients following specified guidelines - Transport and process all samples and specimens per company and government regulations - Package specimens for delivery according to company and TDG guidelines - Sort specimens (spinning, pouring‑off, separating into categories) - Confirm specimen labeling is complete and accurate - Enter data and verify completeness of all patient demographics and requisitions (provincial and non‑provincial) - Disinfect work area and equipment on a scheduled basis - Follow all pre and post analytical QA protocols as described in the company QA manual - Ensure supplies are properly ordered, maintained, and not expired - Protect health and safety by reporting hazards and working in compliance with safe working practices - Ensure patient safety and dignity at all times - Maintain documentation of work‑related mileage and follow driving and vehicle use policies What YOU bring to the role: - You are CSMLS or BCSLS certified and/or a graduate of an MLA program accredited by BCSLS or equivalent (Canadian). Applicants with a Bachelor degree in a related scientific discipline or nursing, or international MLA or MLT qualification, AND a minimum of 2 years patient‑facing phlebotomy experience may also be considered. Minimum of 2 years of experience as an MLA. - You are customer‑focused with a genuine care for patients’ health. - You demonstrate skill in phlebotomy, managing anxious patients in a pleasant, calming, and reassuring manner. - You prioritize and self‑manage within a deadline‑oriented environment. - You are extremely detail‑oriented. - You are proficient in English, both written and verbal, at a level that enables you to communicate instructions clearly and understandably to patients. - You have a valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract. - Work experience in a nursing home is an asset. Working Conditions - Normal office environment - Medical laboratory environment - Mobile collections: nursing homes, retirement homes, private homes and other facilities as required - Required walking with repetitive motions - May sit or stand for prolonged periods with extensive computer use - Required to lift a maximum of 30 pounds as required - Exposed to bio‑hazardous substances, temperature differences, and noise variances - May require frequent standing, sitting, bending, etc. - Carry items up and down stairs, and in and out of buildings The hiring pay range has been established; however, the final pay offer will be determined by taking into consideration various factors including but not limited to experience and education requirements.
