We are looking for an Intermediate Accountant to join our team in Mississauga, Ontario. In this role, you will play a key part in managing financial transactions, ensuring accurate reporting, and supporting project budgets. Your work will contribute to maintaining cost control and overall financial stability across various projects.Responsibilities:- Match vendor invoices with purchase orders and receiving documents, ensuring accuracy and completeness.- Accurately code invoices to appropriate jobs, cost codes, and general ledger accounts.- Set up new vendors and subcontractors with necessary payment terms and compliance documentation.- Process payments, including cheque runs and wire transfers, while maintaining detailed records.- Prepare and issue monthly progress billings based on project completion percentages and contract terms.- Monitor accounts receivable aging and follow up on overdue payments to ensure timely collection.- Administer weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees, verifying timecards and applying correct allocations.- Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare year-end documentation such as T4s and ROEs.- Support monthly and year-end closing activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance.- Minimum 2-4 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles, preferably in construction or skilled trades.- Proficiency in job costing systems and project-based accounting practices.- Experience with unionized payroll and collective agreements is an asset.- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions.- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks within strict deadlines.- Familiarity with Sage 100 or similar accounting software.- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve discrepancies.- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information securely.Robert Half is the world's first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
